…completely obsessed with fashion

More often than not, many of us go and get our hair done at the hairdressers. Normally we all leave the salon feeling and look great, with hair to die-for. However, this thrill is quite short live for most of us.  A few days after our visit to the hair dresser reality hit home as we face the task of reproduce that same salon hair care finish from the luxury of our ill equipped homes.

With our own hair products and amateur tools and techniques, many of us struggle to recreate that once loved look. 9 times out of 10 it just doesn’t look the same as when the stylist did it. So how can you ensure that you get that salon-worthy look at home every time?

Aside from purchasing a good hair care range and investing in fabulous quality tools, here are a few handy tips and tricks that may help:

For straight and sleek hair:

Although we desire sleek looking locks we also want to avoid missing out on volume. To give your roots some lift, start by blow drying your hair the opposite direction to which it sits. Once the roots are dry and a significant amount of volume has been injected, use a flat ‘paddle brush’ and dry the rest of your hair flat. Finish this look off by smoothing the hair with high-quality straighteners. However, remember not to go overboard with the straightening irons. You do you want straight hair but not flat hair so avoid straightening the roots altogether.

Achieving the perfect Curls:

Curls are always a popular look all year round. Nevertheless this year predicts more polish perfect curls. First, apply a good curl defining cream. Next using a diffuser to blow dries the roots. Once your roots are nearly dry, put your head upside down and continue drying the length to allow natural curls to form. Once your hair has dried, use a curling iron or even straightening tongs and begin curling random sections of hair. Finish off with a hairspray, you want a good spray that wont stiffen you locks but will prevent those curls from drooping throughout the day.

Getting a little Va-Va-Voom:

For voluminous hair movement is essential. Divide your hair into two-inch sections and blow dry using a large round bristle ventilated brush. Once the hair is fully dry, give it a light spray of hairspray. Next add some large Velcro rollers at the crown of the head. When you remove the rollers, gently backcomb the crown for maximum volume. Always stay away from extra-firm-hold hairsprays. Extra hold products will only stiffen your hair, giving an unnatural look.
